18 September - Rain, Rain, go away

Woke up to an overcast sky and the weather forecast threatening rain for most of the day, just as well because Sir Bruce the Wobbly is feeling poorly again. I keep reminding myself that I don't have to go. go, go every day so I'll take it a bit easy - after I clean the house a bit, empty the cat boxes, etc.

Mid afternoon the weather breaks and the sun is shining, for how long I don't know. Off to the Indian grocery store to pick up some dal for tonight's dinner.

After dropping off my groceries, I head off for a walk by the canal. There are Canadian Geese everywhere and they act as alarm clocks every morning.

One of the things I love about English cities is that if you look around, there are such wonderful things hidden in plain sight. I particularly like the pedestrian things, like signs. Of course most of the best signs are those from pubs, but old buildings yield things, too.

And there are wonderful new things, like this fabulous glass mosaic.

Home again for a G&T and then some dinner. I hate to admit it, but sometimes a quiet night in is just what the doctor ordered.

That's the beautify of how you travel. You can simply "take a day off!"
