The Guinness Storehouse

Dublin is a company town, and that company is Guinness.

No surprise, then, that one of the big attractions is the Guinness Storehouse, a temple dedicate to eating, drinking and buying all things Guinness.

Leaving Christ Church Cathedral, I walked around the Liberties (the area of town in which the Storehouse is located.) The houses remind me of slightly shorter versions of the two up, two down houses you see in English mill towns.

Then I took a closer look and discovered that the neighborhood had a bit of personality.

At the end of the same street in which I found that, ahem, charming sign, I found this.

I walked around the neighborhood and saw lots of highrise public housing blocks which were kind of rundown and sad looking. Finally I rounded the corner and found a row of horses and carriages enjoyed, I'm sure, by tourists who'd had, perhaps, a touch too much of the brown liquid.

Armed with a time-stamped ticket, we entered the Guinness Storehouse

and made our way to the fifth floor where we had lunch. Bruce's burger was served on a bun reminiscent of the color of the drink.

We then walked to the 7th floor which is walled in glass and gives a panoramic view of that area of Dublin, as well as a bit of history of Guinness and the surrounding area.

Then it was down to the third floor for the Stoutie experience.

After showing our ticket to the doorman we were each ushered into a small booth where a rediculously cheery woman took a photo. That got transmitted to a place behind the bar. You tap your photo on the screen
